Hygge in the Home

For the love of Hygge

In Danish, HYGGE (pronounced hue-guh or hoo-gah) means a quality of coziness and comfort that renders a feeling of contentment. This Scandinavian way of life revolves around friends, family, a feeling of warmth and an appreciation for the little things that makes life happy.

Signs of hygge taking over the home décor market are everywhere from linens to art to furniture. Creating a living space that embodies this look is as easy! You may only need a soft blanket, a beautifully patterned pillow and a well-chosen art accent. Like so:

Hygge-inspired décor has a simple, modern appeal – and color palettes trend after various wood tones: clean whites, soft grays and warm neutrals. Fabrics have texture and weight with rustic burlap, soft knits and homespun threads.  And amidst all those neutrals, are color accents in the immensely popular indigo or washed blue.
